Young artists take next Level Up

13 April 2017

Five young Gold Coast artists are participating in a residency program including funding, studio space and support to take their creative careers to the next level.

Level Up is a four-month, cross-art form residency program providing shared studio space, business arts tuition and valuable industry experience.

As part of the program, artists have activated a studio space at the Helensvale Shopping Plaza and adjacent area with community activities, pop-up events and exhibitions.

Mayor Tom Tate congratulated the artists.

“I’m always amazed and inspired by our young people – they play a critical role in shaping our city’s future,” said Mayor Tate.

“Our Youth Plan is a celebration of the enormous potential our younger residents possess in so many fields. The plan is about tapping into the energies of our young people and I’m keen to ensure they have what they need to succeed.”

An integral part of our Youth Plan, Level Up engages young artists between 18 and 25 who are transitioning from school, work or tertiary studies to a career in the creative industries.
