Wet weather impacts on manholes (access holes)

30 March 2017

Access holes (also known as manholes) covered with heavy steel lids are located on easements, roads and footpaths across the City. These access holes allow City officers to inspect and maintain sewerage and stormwater networks.

As a result of the current severe weather event, some access hole lids may lift and spill water.

Due to safety risks, residents must not approach any access holes where the lids have lifted or moved, or where water is spilling.

Residents are requested to phone the City’s 24 hour Customer Contact Centre on 1300 000 928 to report any access holes with lids that have lifted or moved.
