Monster Machinery Day is back

26 May 2016

Unleash your inner child at the one of the favourite events of the year, Monster Machinery Day.

Broadwater Parklands will host the 13th annual Monster Machinery Day on Sunday, 29 May.

It’s your unique opportunity to see the huge fleet of machinery that maintains our city’s parks, beaches, roads and neighbourhoods.

Divisional Councillor Dawn Crichlow said the family-friendly event attracted more than 7000 people last year.

“There will be more than 50 City of Gold Coast vehicles on show, including excavators, graders, loaders, tip trucks, road sweepers, beach tractors and water vehicles,” she said.

“This event only happens once a year and attracts all ages – not just families with kids. If you’ve ever wanted to imagine yourself as a landscaper, lifeguard, beach cleaner, fence builder, dune protector or construction worker, this event is the perfect opportunity!” said Cr Crichlow.

“The City’s entire fleet is valued at $75 million, comprises around 1400 items and operates across a 1378 square kilometre area. The City is continuously updating the fleet to ensure it’s safe, cost-efficient and up to date with the latest technology.”

Po from Kung Fu Panda and Transformers’ Bumble Bee and Optimus Prime will also be there to entertain the kids along with vehicle demonstrations, stage shows, rides, food stalls and games for all ages.

Free parking is available at the Broadwater Parklands and at Carey Park, Marine Parade or catch the G:Link to Broadwater Parklands station. If you live locally, consider walking, cycling, scooting or skating to the event.

Monster Machinery Day is on Sunday 29 May, 9am – 2pm at Broadwater Parkland’s Southern Precinct, Marine Parade, Southport.
