It’s time to light up and make our city sparkle

4 November 2015

Help bring the magic of Christmas to the Gold Coast by ‘lighting up’ your home or business and entering the 2015 Gold Coast Christmas Lights Competition.

Mayor Tom Tate officially launched the competition today at last year’s non-residential winner and community favourite, the Tallai General Store.

“The 2015 City of Gold Coast Christmas Light Competition is now open and we are calling for entrants to help light up the city,” he said.

"The Christmas light displays bring so much joy to people of all ages in our city, they put a smile on absolutely everyone’s face!”.

This year’s categories are residential display, first year entry, single feature (e.g. tree, window), and non-residential display.

Cr Tate said the annual Christmas Lights Competition, supported by Channel Nine Gold Coast News and 92.5 Gold FM, was a great way to bring local residents together, with  the new voting system ensuring more people could be involved.

All entrants are eligible for the Grand Champion prize. Entrants may wish to consider visual appeal, uniqueness, overall impact, variety of decorations used, energy efficient and environmentally friendly options when creating their displays.

Entrants can register online now at cityofgoldcoast.com.au/christmaslights. Submissions close on Monday 23 November.
