It’s the Mayor’s shout for a free cuppa

9 August 2017

Coffee, tea or a chat about local issues – Mayor Tom Tate and Cr Pauline Young want to hear from locals at Justin’s Park today.

The Mayor and Divisional Councillor will be in the popular Burleigh area to launch the park’s new hot water system – a further boost for our ever popular city play and recreational areas.

“We have 2200 parks across the city enjoyed by millions of people every year. I’m always looking at adding new facilities to boost the enjoyment of visitors. Hot water systems like this add to a family’s day out and make a great cup of coffee on a winter’s day,’’ he said.

Cr Young said the taps were enclosed in child-proof fencing as an added precaution.

“Safety is always the No 1 priority and these enclosed facilities are child-proof,’’ she said.

“I’m keen to see what locals think and am proud that Burleigh received the first of the six upgraded hot water systems installed across the Gold Coast.’’

The taps are at Hollindale Park, Main Beach; Pratten Park, Broadbeach; Justin’s Park, Burleigh; Laguna Park, Palm Beach; Kropp Park, Tugun and RT Peak Memorial Park, Coolangatta.

Mayor Tate said he would look to budget for more hot water systems across the coast in 2017-18.
