Illuminate your senses at GLOW

28 April 2016

Get ready to be mesmerised at GLOW with an evening of lights, lasers and illuminated art on Saturday 30 April.

Now in its third year, this free event is fast becoming a favourite on the Gold Coast’s cultural events calendar.

Happening at the Gold Coast Cultural Precinct in Surfers Paradise, attractions include a laser water show on Evandale Lake, interactive gaming, virtual reality, glow yoga and tai chi and light installations from Griffith and Bond University students.

Entertainment includes local bands Cheap Fakes, LS Philosophy, Aquila Young, Jackson James Smith and Crown The Humble, and short films from In the Bin and The Gold Coast Film Festival. A range of food trucks will provide plenty of tasty options to satisfy appetites.

Deputy Mayor Donna Gates said the event showcased the Gold Coast’s emerging cultural precinct and highlighted the City’s commitment to supporting local artists and creatives.

“GLOW takes place in what will, over the next few years, become our cultural heartland and really takes advantage of the surrounding area with the digital art installations illuminated against the picturesque backdrop of Evandale Lake, the Nerang River and the Surfers Paradise skyline,” she said.

“Last year’s GLOW was a huge success, with double the numbers of the previous year and we’d like to see it grow again this year. We are proud to provide this unique opportunity for our local artists and creative industries and of course for residents and visitors to the city.”

The free event is expected to attract a wide range of attendees, including families with young children, teenagers, couples and visitors.
