Have your say – join the City Panel

9 September 2015

If you’re proud of your city and want to have your say, you’re invited to join the new City Panel.

Mayor Tom Tate launched the City Panel at a local shopping centre today, inviting Gold Coast residents to register their name and email address to become an active participant.

“The City Panel will give everyone a voice on how the city is run. It provides a way for the City of Gold Coast to gather information about what the community wants to help us make the right investment decisions,” he said.

“We want the Gold Coast to be one of the world’s most engaged cities, with a direct line between the community’s needs and the decisions made by your Council.

“The City Panel has evolved from the very successful Budget consultation process this year, which guided Council in its decision making.”

Cr Tate said the City Panel would help drive change by providing feedback on new ideas, City projects and its priorities.

“The first survey will be about city pride and is tied to the legacy of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. It will ask questions about why people are proud of their city and what kinds of things would make them prouder.”

Cr Tate said hosting the City Panel online would allow for a range of different people from all over the city, with different views and opinions, to contribute and work together on matters that impact the whole community.

“It’s a great way to keep up to date with City initiatives, and by participating online, you can contribute at a time and a place that suits you.

“Whatever your idea - whether it’s big or small - they will all be considered on merit and prioritised. You will receive feedback on results of surveys and how the City is taking your views into account.”

You can join the City Panel today by visiting www.gchaveyoursay.com.au or by providing your details in person at one of Council’s customer service centres.

Residents can be assured that their email address will be used solely for the purposes of the City Panel.
