Free access to waste facilities for residents and businesses

7 April 2017

To assist residents impacted by the recent storm event and floods, Gold Coast residents and businesses can dispose of their waste at the City’s waste and recycling centres and landfills for free this weekend (Saturday 8 April and Sunday 9 April 2017).

The City asks that any flood or storm debris transported in a commercial vehicle or truck be taken directly to a City landfill site (at either Stapylton or Reedy Creek).

Mayor Tom Tate asked that residents and businesses not impacted by the floods respect those affected by staying away from the waste facilities this weekend.

“This will mean those affected residents can access our facilities quickly and easily. All the waste facilities are likely to be busy, so your patience is appreciated,” he said.

“Please note that City staff are required to manage waste appropriately, weigh loads on weighbridges, and that normal restrictions on the types of waste that can be accepted at some waste facilities still applies. This includes potential hazardous waste and asbestos.”
