City Christmas lights finalists announced

5 December 2016

The spirit of Christmas is alive and well on the Gold Coast, with thousands of lights adorning homes for the City’s Christmas lights competition.

A total of 12 finalists have been selected from the 42 entries.

Mayor Tom Tate said it was wonderful to see so many homes lit up, especially for children who love the annual event.

“Now it’s over to the community to have their say on who should win out of these top 12, with online voting open from tomorrow until 17 December,” he said.

To vote, go to www.7news.com.au/qld (voting will be live at this site tomorrow, 6/12). Everyone who votes goes into the draw for a chance to win $1000. The total prize pool is $6500. A list of entrants is available at cityofgoldcoast.com.au/christmaslights to make it easy to find the Christmas lights in your area.

Bus tours to the “Mayor’s Panel Top 12” depart every evening from 20 to 24 December at 7pm from the Arts Centre Gold Coast. Bookings are essential. To book bus tour tickets go to cityofgoldcoast.com.au/christmaslights

“As you take your tour, look out for the City’s new decorations installed in key locations,” said Cr Tate.

The prize presentation ceremony will take place at Robina Town Centre, at the “Christmas Chillage” space just outside the T2 Tea Store on Monday 19 December from 5.30pm.

The City Lights Competition is presented by Heritage Bank and supported by 7News Gold Coast and 90.9SeaFM.
