Christmas Lights Competition winners announced

Winners from this year’s Christmas Competition celebrated their achievement on the lawn of Grand Champions, Diane and Dennis Jordan, 37 Eugaree Street, Southport.

From the first of December to 24 December entrant’s homes and businesses have been transformed into magical displays incorporating winter wonderlands, reindeers, candy canes, Santa Claus riding his sleigh and thousands of lights.

This year the community cast their vote and decided the category winners. More than 3000 votes were recorded for the 43 entrants.

Acting Mayor, Donna Gates congratulated all of the entrants for bringing extra sparkle and Christmas cheer to the city this festive season.

“The entrants have put a huge amount of time and effort into their displays and bring a great deal of excitement and happiness to Gold Coasters each year,” said Cr Gates.

“The new SMS voting system has been a huge success and it’s been great to see such strong community support for the competition and entrants.”


The winners by category are:

Grand Champion – 37 Eugaree Street, Southport

Residential Winner – 1 Pomona Court, Helensvale

Residential Runner Up – 5 Mintwood Place, Molendinar

First year Winner – 7 Cuthero Court, Highland Park

First year Runner Up – 13 Beaumont Crescent, Pacific Pines

Non-residential Winner – My General Store: 1 Tallai Road, Tallai

Non-residential Runner Up – Eastcoast RV’s: 10 Commercial Drive, Ashmore

Single Feature Winner – 2/97 Annabelle Crescent, Upper Coomera

Single Feature Runner Up - 7 Clematis Court, Varsity Lakes


The announcement of the winners doesn’t mean the lights will be switched off.  For those who prefer to leave the car at home, bus tours will operate from Friday 18 December to Thursday 24 December, departing The Arts Centre at 7pm.
