Beaches are for everyone – so it’s time to share your beach experience

29 October 2015

With summer almost here and our city’s iconic beaches ready for everyone to enjoy, it’s time to share your beach experience.

Mayor Tom Tate today launched the summer beach campaign, which kicks off with a new public survey about your beach experience and beach priorities.

“Our first time beach-goers survey will help us better understand what the community wants when it comes to providing services and infrastructure on and around our beaches,” he said.

“We are leaders in coastal management and our spectacular beaches are kept in great shape year round, as one of the key deliverables of our Ocean Beaches Strategy.

“This year, we’re investing $22million into beach resources, maintaining and protecting our coastal environment for everyone to enjoy.

“As the city grows though, the way we use our beaches is also changing and we need to work together to ensure everyone can enjoy them in the future.”

Cr Tate said the survey would be conducted online as well as on a number of beaches, with beach-goers likely to be approached by data collectors over the next fortnight.

“We want everyone to make the most of their beach visit, so we’ll be asking people about beach facilities, transport to the beach, their chosen beach activities and their overall experience at the beach.

“Everyone who participates in this survey will be entered into the draw for a chance to win a Surf FX stand-up paddleboard.”

To have your say on the beaches, visit and go to the “Beaches are for everyone” survey. The survey closes on 12 November.
